Become a Foster Parent
Foster care is part of an incredibly complex system that can feel overwhelming and confusing. We understand that. Nevertheless, FaithBridge aims to do all we can to simplify the licensing process, making it accessible, manageable and approachable.
“We realized that through foster care we would be able to show the love of Jesus first hand not only to hurting children but also to birth families.” Cheryl Smith
Five Steps to Fostering
1. Attend Orientation: Encounter
Join us for a two-hour Encounter orientation to learn more about fostering and FaithBridge Foster Care. (Encounter must be completed before registering for Foundations) Register for an Encounter.
2. The Application Process
Once you decide to begin the journey of fostering, you can become licensed through FaithBridge. FaithBridge will guide you through every step of the process. After you complete Encounter you will be given access to the MyFaithBridge portal where you can complete your foster parent application and submit additional documentation.
3. Complete Foster Parent Training: Foundations
In the state of Georgia foster parents are required to complete pre-service training that is designed to prepare prospective foster parents for the physical, emotional and spiritual demands of foster care. Register for Foundations in your area.
4. Complete Four Home visits and a Home Study Assessment
FaithBridge will visit your home and ensure that you have adequate space, supplies, and safety measures in place to care for foster children. Interviews will be done on all family members in order to complete the family assessment.
5. Final Approval
FaithBridge will submit all of the documentation to the state for final approval. Once approved, you will be ready to receive children in your home.
