In-Person Advanced Training with Childcare and a Free, Personalized Love Box from Atlanta Angels

Sunday, June 13 | 2pm-4pm | Marietta, GA

“Boundaries and Self-Care for Caregivers and Helpers

In this training, attendees will learn an overview of healthy boundaries. There will be a specific focus on cognitive and emotional boundaries, exploring what research and the Bible have to say about ‘worry’ versus ‘concern.’ Attendees will then learn about the impact of stress on the body and mind and the importance of self-care. The idea of self-care will be re-defined from current cultural connotations and will explore Biblical roots of caring for oneself. Finally, attendees will have an opportunity to practice some of the techniques and methods discussed during the training, including mindfulness.

Trainer, Christie Simons, LPC

Christie is a counselor by training, holding her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor. She currently works as the director of a university counseling center and has also served as adjunct professor of psychology and program manager of a medication-assisted addiction treatment center. Christie is also a certified Mental Health Trainer and has had the opportunity to speak, present, and train at many local and national conferences.

Christie and her husband adopted their daughter through the foster system. Christie is the President of Atlanta Angels and it was born out of the pain of the knowledge that her story is an exception, and the call to change the story. Her vision to see every foster parent supported and every child in foster care know that they are valued, loved, and worthy in the metro-Atlanta area.
