FaithBridge Receives National Recognition for Work with Birth Parents

We are excited to share that FaithBridge has received national recognition for the work our staff and foster families are doing to engage and support birth parents. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Administration for Children and Families issued an Information Memorandum (IM) to all governmental child welfare entities throughout the U.S. with recommendations and best practices for using foster care as a support to birth families. FaithBridge was one of three organizations highlighted for its impactful and innovative work!

This IM concludes that using a child’s foster care placement as a support for the entire family can be a powerful tool to improve parent engagement, enhance parental capacity to meet the needs of their children, and achieve safe, timely reunification. The memorandum lists eight best practices that facilitate the use of foster care as a support to families. Six of those best practices can be done by licensed child placing agencies and FaithBridge is already doing all of them.

It is rare to be highlighted in a U.S. government publication, much less as a “faith-based” organization. We are grateful to God for what He is doing and allowing us to be part of it!
