Getting Licensed to Adopt

Each year, approximately 1,600 children in Georgia’s foster care system need families who will adopt them. We need families who are willing to be licensed specifically to adopt to provide these children with the love and stability of a forever home.

What does this look like?

You would be matched with children who are in foster care and eligible for adoption, but are waiting for an adoptive home. FaithBridge is contracted with Georgia DFCS to license families to adopt sibling groups of three or more, teens, and children with special needs. Once you are licensed and have agreed to a specific child, teen, or sibling group, they would be placed into your home as the adoption process occurs.

You can learn about children currently waiting to be adopted on the “My Turn Now” website or “Wednesday’s Child.”

What’s the process?

Your licensing process would be specifically geared to adoption. Your first step would be to attend an upcoming “Encounter” training session. This is for both foster and adoptive parents and will answer your questions about the process.
