The Best Valentine

What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than with a promise of forever love!

Sophie had a difficult start to her young life. Born addicted to drugs in 2019 and immediately placed into foster care, her birth mom gave DFCS the contact information for her cousin, Tricia, as someone who could care for her. Tricia, who had not been in contact with her cousin in many years, agreed to take this baby into her home as what is called a kinship placement (when a family member takes care of a child who would have been placed in foster care).

Tricia and Danny Horsley took two-month-old Sophie into their home and decided to get licensed as foster parents through FaithBridge, providing them and Sophie with the support and training that is so important for children in care, especially those with the kinds of medical needs Sophie had. After some time and effort to work with Sophie’s birth parents, it became clear that it would be best if Sophie remain in the Horsley’s home.

Because of your support, Sophie, who was born with the odds against her, has thrived in this loving Christian home. She loves to sing and dance to all things related to the movie Frozen and is a true “girly-girl” who loves pink, tulle and playing dress up with her mom and sisters. Most importantly – she knows that Jesus loves her.

Thanks to you – we celebrate that on February 3, 2022, Sophie officially became a Horsley and will celebrate this Valentine’s Day with lots of pink hearts and the promise of forever love that a family provides.
